Yangon port

Yangon Port Information
PORT OF YANGON
The Port of Yangon is the premier port of Myanmar and handles about 90 % of the country's exports and imports.

YANGON RIVER ESTUARY & APPROACHES
The Port of Yangon is situated at Latitude 16* 47' N and Longitude 096* 15' E on the Yangon River and about 32 km inland from the Elephant Point on the Gulf of Martaban.
All vessels calling to the Yangon Port, pilotage is compulsory if they are over 200 GRT. Navigation from the Pilot Station, which is further 32 km seaward from Elephant Point, to the Yangon harbor is generally on a flood tides and has to be timed to cross both Inner Bar and Outer Bar near high tide to ensure sufficient depths.
There are two restricted bars in Yangon river along the approached channel:-
(1) Inner Bar (near Yangon Port at Monkey Point)
(2) Outer Bar (at the mouth of the River)

Tidal Range
The average tidal range is about 19.3 feet (5.85 m) at spring tide and 8.4 feet (2.55 m) at neap tide.

Current Velocity
The velocity of the current at Yangon River is 4 to 6 knots at spring. Flood stream continues for about 1 hour 15 minutes after high water and Ebb current for about 30 minutes after low water.

Wave
Waves within the Yangon River do not hinder marine operations and even at the mouth of the river wave conditions are seldom rough with less than two meters wave-height.

Vessel Size & Draft
The Yangon upper river Port is accessible to vessels of LOA 167 mtr ,Draft  9.50mtr , 20,000 DWT and Thilawa Port is accessible up to vessels of 200 mtr LOA, 9.50-10.00mtr Draft, 35,000 DWT.

Working Hours
Day shift is from 08:00 hours to 16:00 hours. Night shift is from 20:00 hours to 04:00 hours. Overtime works is available on request for periods between shift hours.

Myanma Port Authority (MPA), has been implementing Port Security measures in its ports since July 1, 2004 to comply with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) adopted by IMO in 2002.

Kyaukphyu port (Ma'de island oil terminal)

Kyaukphyu (Ma'de island) port is one of the deep seaport located in Arkan state in Myanmar. The oil terminal in Kyaukphyu is started recently and can handle Super Tankers.

SPT Marine Agency handled LOA 305Mtrs and total cargo crude oil 370,000.00MT at max draft of 30Mtrs easily in Ma'de island kyaukphyu Rakhine state.

PaThein( Bassein) Port

According to the organization of Port of Pathein, Myanma Port Authority, the services are as follow:

•    The vessels calling at the port to anchor, berth, moore  at the jetties, buoys and anchorages
•    Measuring and defining the routes, placing the buoys and marking the route so that the vessels can enter and exit from the mouth of the sea to the port.
•     Arranging the pilots for coming and leaving from the mouth of the sea to the ports.
•     Renovation and repair for the strength of the jetties and bridges.
•    Collecting the port dues in accordance with the published procedures, terms and conditions.
•     Performing as the freight forwarder for the foreign vessels in accordance with the PFSO and PFSP.
•     Arrangements for the civil engineers, mechanic engineers, pilotages, accounts and human resources works needed for the port.

Pa Thein known as Bassein port is one of the major port in Pa Thein river which handling foreign going Vessels as limited size according to weather and tide condition.

Entrance and Exit Route
The entrance and exit route of Sittwe port start at the pilot station, Latitude 20 degree, 01.5 minutes and
Longitude 92 degree, 54 minutes. As there is an outer bar with the water depth 13 feet at the outer
anchorage, Latitude 20 degree, 07 minutes and Longitude 92 degree, 55 minutes from that route to the
mouth of the Kalatan River, the vessels have to enter from the east corner of that bay. The vessels of 22 feet
Draft can enter from that route and the tracking point along that river routes are

       Inner Anchorage
To enter the inner anchorage, Latitude 2o degree, 10.4 minutes N and Longitude 092 degree 55.36 minutes E, it have to wait for the flood tide to cross the inner bar whose water depth is only 14 feet at the lower tide. At the corner of the inner bar, there is H.M.S INDUS and the red lighted buoy is placed. Beside of the river route between the inner bar and inner anchorage, there is S.S GEROMICHALIC and green-lighted buoy is placed. Then, the average wide of that river route is about 1500–2000 and in some places, there are narrow channels of 1000 feet wide and so, the inner anchorage can be entered with the help of the expert pilot
